I can't remember how far I got before everything went tits up in 2011, so I'll have to start again and explain as best I can.

Due to poor choices of chilli, I was pretty p****d off with 2011. The yields were fine but the flavour of 80% were not what I was expecting. I knew that the Big Jims were of an extremley low SHU but I really thought they'd add something to a summer salad but I have to be honest it was like eating an apple and the others were much the same.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this but towards the end of 2011 a driver that delivers to where I work turned up one day with a broken bag of clay balls and wanted to throw them in our skip but after he'd told me what they were I had them and took them home. As I'd already lost my car ( no car no growing provisions )I decided to try these clay balls.

I filled two 3" pots with them and sprinkled one with White Habs and the other with Fatalli seeds. I sprayed both with water twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening and after three weeks of this I had seedlings. I allowed them to grow to around 2 maybe 3 inches then took the strongest looking of each variety and re potted them in one pot, where they continued to grow but as winter was approaching I decided to cut them both back and try and overwinter them.

This weekend I re potted them into seperate pots, both 10" and so far so good but thats basically where I am this year, two plants living on the edge

Can anyone explain how these clay balls work, they obviously do work ( so far ) but how, I still don't understand.

Also, as these two plants didn't give any pods, just a couple of flowers before they were cut back. Will this year be the first or second yield? The second giving the higher

Aplogies for my absence but I should be back to normal soon ....... Normal as if.

All the best
Gray

Hi Mate,Get Them Into A 3 in 1 Mix Of Compost/perlite/vermiculite As Soon As Possible,Keep Them Moist,From The Top,not Bottom,Keep Them Warm,In Natural Sunlight,And Turn Every Day To Stop Them Leaning Towards The Light.Untill The Longer Days/Light Comes,Warmth Is The Key,Then When All Signs Of Frost/Minus Temps Have Passed,Put Them In Greenhouse,And Start To Give Feed. BUT Keep Them WARM. STEVE

Steve,
Thanks for your advice on this. I'll get them into a 3 in 1 this weekend. Sorry for the delay in my reply aswell, Richard Branson seems to have forgot that to enjoy faster broadband you have to be able to connect first.
Cheers
